Thurlestone in South Devon
Nestled between
Hope Cove and Bantham, Thurlestone is a fantastic destination for a family beach holiday.
We have superb
self catering waterside apartments or
country cottages in this pretty village. Thurlestone has sandy beaches great for surfing, wind surfing and canoeing, there are secluded coves great for swimming with rock pools for children. The village itself has a pub well known for its's delicious food as well as a four star hotel where you can dine, lunch or just have a cream tea.
The towns of
Salcombe and
Kingsbridge are just 15 minutes drive away, and the popular village of
Hope Cove just 10 minutes away. The large holed rock on Thurlestone Sands was painted by William Turner and Thurlestone Church was where the first beacon fire was lit when the Spanish Armada was sighted.
Thurlestone takes it name from the large rock which means pierced stone, much painted by local artists today.
We have properties in the hamlet of West Buckland which is a mile from Thurlestone and only a mile from Bantham which is well know for its surfing sand dunes and sandcastles, again the village has a great family eatery The Sloop Inn.
The South West Coastal path runs along the stunning coastline and there are lots of great circular walks nearby too.
Thurlestone and Bigbury Gold clubs are nearby.
For children there are a wealth of local activities including Woodlands Leisure Park near
Dartmouth.
The city of Plymouth is 40 minutes away and has Britain's foremost aquarium, well worth a visit and great for the whole family.
